India’s defence engineering ecosystem depends on many different design, simulation, testing and lifecycle tools supplied by multiple OEMs. Without a unified framework, these systems remain fragmented, slowing development and creating gaps in data flow, interoperability and governance.
The purpose of the consortium is to create a single, coherent, defence-compliant digital-engineering environment that unifies all tools, data and stakeholders across India’s strategic defence programmes. Instead of DRDO labs, DPSUs and OEMs operating in isolation with fragmented integrations, the consortium establishes a common digital backbone where design, simulation, testing and lifecycle activities are connected through a governed, standardised architecture.
By enabling this unified environment, the consortium ensures that DRDO, DPSUs , OEMs and SCICUS collaborate within a secure, consistent and future-ready engineering ecosystem—accelerating innovation, reducing lifecycle risks and strengthening India’s long-term strategic autonomy
The consortium is established by defining a neutral, non-monolithic, vendor-agnostic framework led by SCICUS that aligns DRDO, DPSUs and global engineering-software OEMs under a single, defence-compliant digital-engineering architecture. It is built by setting up a clear governance model, Drafting the Consortium Charter in alignment with SCICUS to define a neutral, non-monolithic, vendor-agnostic collaboration framework and outline the unified PLM/MBSE–Digital Thread–HPC backbone that supports secure and standardized engineering integration.
OEMs are onboarded through a structured, transparent, defence-compliant process that ensures non-overlap, secure interoperability and consistent engineering workflows across multiple DRDO labs. Once the standardised integration environment is validated through pilot projects, the consortium scales across DRDO/DPSUs to deliver a unified, future-ready digital-engineering ecosystem for India’s strategic defence programmes.
